Teen Found Dead on Carnival Cruise Was Wrapped in Blankets and Hidden Under Bed: Report

The sudden and mysterious death of 18-year-old Anna Kepner, a cheerleader from Titusville, Florida, has left her family and the public in shock. Anna was found dead in her cabin aboard the Carnival Horizon on November 7, 2025, during a six-day Caribbean cruise with her family.

Disturbingly, Anna was discovered by a maid wrapped in a blanket, covered by life jackets, and shoved under the bed, prompting questions about the circumstances surrounding her passing.

Anna, who was a gymnast and varsity cheerleader at Temple Christian School in Titusville, had told her family the night before that she wasn’t feeling well and went back to her cabin early, a routine she had often followed.

Her family grew concerned when she didn’t appear for breakfast the next morning. After a frantic search of the massive cruise ship, which can hold up to 4,000 passengers, the maid found her body at around 11 a.m. and alerted authorities.

The ship altered its course and returned to the Port of Miami, where the Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner confirmed Anna’s time of death as 11:17 a.m. However, the cause of death remains unknown, as the results of the autopsy have not yet been shared with the public.

The FBI has taken over the investigation due to the death occurring in international waters, but both her family and the community are still awaiting crucial details.

Anna Kepner with family before her passing

Anna’s father, Christopher Kepner, has spoken out about the lack of information, saying, “I have no idea what is going on right now. We are just trying to sit still and wait for answers.” His heartbreaking words reflect the family’s frustration as they cope with the untimely loss of a daughter full of promise.

A bright and ambitious young woman, Anna was described by her family as a “bubbly” personality who had plans to graduate from high school and join the military in 2026. She dreamed of becoming a K9 police officer, and her love for sports, particularly cheerleading and gymnastics, was an integral part of her life.

She was also a passionate fan of the University of Georgia football team, hoping one day to cheer for them. Anna’s family lovingly referred to her as “Anna Banana” and shared how she brought warmth and joy to everyone around her.

In a tribute to Anna, her teacher from Temple Christian School recalled her enthusiasm for life and her positive impact on the classroom. “Your curiosity, your gentle spirit, and the way you cared for those around you made a lasting impression,” said Mr. Brunner, who described Anna as a student who could light up a room. The teacher added that her loss has left a void in the hearts of everyone who knew her.

Carnival Cruise Line has offered its condolences, expressing support for the Kepner family during this devastating time. “Our focus is on supporting the family of our guest and cooperating with the FBI,” a spokesperson for the cruise line said. While the investigation continues, the family hopes to receive the answers they need to understand what happened to their beloved daughter.

As Anna’s family grapples with this tragedy, her death has raised several questions about safety protocols and oversight aboard cruise ships. The incident has left a lasting impact on the community, with friends, family, and even strangers coming together to honor Anna’s memory and support her grieving family during this painful time.
