Breaking Waves: Norwegian Cruise Line Shuffles 2025 Itineraries, Cancels Select Sailings
Norwegian Cruise Line has recently informed travel agents and passengers of its decision to cancel a number of sailings scheduled for 2025.
This unexpected announcement affects 20 departures across seven of its ships, with the company citing fleet redeployments, charters, and one drydock as the primary reasons behind these cancellations.

The affected ships and their specific canceled sailings are:
- Norwegian Epic with departures on November 1 and 11;
- Norwegian Jade on February 20, March 4, 13, and 24;
- Norwegian Pearl on October 15;
- Norwegian Sky on April 19, May 5, 16, 27, and June 5;
- Norwegian Spirit on January 1; Norwegian Star on May 17, 29, and June 9;
- and Norwegian Viva on May 18, 27, September 20, and 29 of 2025.
Passengers booked on these cancelled voyages are not left adrift; Norwegian Cruise Line is offering the option to rebook on alternate dates that feature similar itineraries.
The company has committed to announcing new cruises to replace the cancelled ones within the next two weeks, ensuring minimal disruption to travelers’ plans.
The cancelled cruises had promised a diverse exploration of the globe, with itineraries covering the Western and Eastern Mediterranean, the Caribbean, the Adriatic Sea, the Middle East, the Red Sea, Asia, and Northern Europe.
Some routes were particularly notable for their inclusion of destinations currently experiencing geopolitical tensions, such as Israel and the Red Sea area.
One highlight was the Norwegian Viva’s now-cancelled voyage scheduled for September 29, 2025, which was set to embark from Haifa, Israel, to Istanbul, Turkey.
This ten-night journey would have offered passengers a rich tapestry of cultural and historical experiences across the Eastern Mediterranean and the Holy Land, with planned stops in Egypt, Cyprus, Israel, Greece, and Turkey.
This decision reflects the dynamic nature of global travel and the challenges faced by cruise lines in navigating both geopolitical landscapes and operational requirements.
As Norwegian Cruise Line works to realign its fleet and offerings, passengers can look forward to new opportunities for adventure and discovery in the near future, despite the temporary setbacks.
