Star of the Seas: Royal Caribbean’s Icon-Class Ship Arriving Ahead of Schedule

Royal Caribbean’s highly anticipated Star of the Seas is making waves ahead of her official debut, with a brand-new, earlier sailing added to the schedule.

Originally set for a late August debut, the ship’s timeline has been expedited, giving eager travelers an even sooner opportunity to experience the next Icon-class marvel.

In a recent update to guests, Royal Caribbean confirmed that a new showcase sailing would now take place on August 20, 2025, just days before the previously scheduled sailings on August 23 and August 27.

This 3-night cruise will depart from Port Canaveral and set the stage for the Star of the Seas’ official debut, offering a sneak peek at the ship’s dazzling offerings before the full maiden voyage.

Guests already booked on the earlier sailings have the option to switch to the new August 20 sailing, giving them a chance to board the ship even earlier.

Those who prefer to stay on their current itinerary can keep their bookings unchanged. The new sailing will soon be open for general bookings, allowing more travelers to join in the inaugural festivities.

While the ship’s debut has shifted timelines a few times, the latest change is a welcome surprise for cruise enthusiasts.

Initially slated to begin its journey with a 7-night Eastern Caribbean itinerary on August 17, 2025, that voyage had to be canceled due to construction delays.

However, with Star of the Seas now on track for an earlier debut, a new chapter of Royal Caribbean’s iconic ships is set to unfold ahead of schedule.

The true official maiden voyage will still occur on August 31, 2025, with a 7-night Western Caribbean itinerary visiting CocoCay, Costa Maya, Roatan, and Cozumel.

This marks the start of the ship’s full inaugural season, and while the earlier showcase sailings are shorter and more limited in scope, they still promise a first-look at the ship’s incredible amenities.

As with most brand-new ships, the early sailings may feature a more relaxed atmosphere with some finishing touches still in progress.

Entertainment options may also be more limited on the shorter cruises, but guests can still expect a fun, energetic introduction to this massive 250,800-gross-ton vessel.

Regardless of when guests board, whether on the earlier showcase sailings or the official maiden voyage, the Star of the Seas is sure to deliver an unforgettable experience.

From onboard shows to deck parties, the first few sailings will be packed with memorable moments that will set the tone for the ship’s exciting inaugural season and beyond.
