Carnival Cruise Ship Rescues 2 Kayakers in Gulf of Mexico
In a dramatic sea rescue, the crew of Carnival’s Jubilee cruise ship saved two men found adrift in a kayak in the Gulf of Mexico this Monday.
The incident occurred as the ship was navigating near Isla Mujeres, Mexico, situated off the coast of Quintana Roo. The Jubilee’s vigilant crew members noticed the men struggling in the water and swiftly brought them aboard.
Once on the ship, the rescued individuals received medical evaluations, first aid, and nourishment, as detailed by Carnival.
The men recounted that they had resorted to the kayak after their original boat sank. Following the rescue, the Jubilee’s crew arranged for the transfer of the men to a vessel of the Mexican Navy.
The exact distance from the coast where the men were found was not specified by Carnival.
The Jubilee, which had set sail from Galveston on a 7-day Western Caribbean cruise last Saturday, continued its journey post-rescue.
Its next destination is Mahogany Bay on Roatan Island, Honduras, before it heads back to Galveston for its scheduled return on Saturday morning.
