Carnival Sunrise Passengers Banned After Chairs Are Thrown in Wild Fight

A shocking altercation unfolded aboard Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Sunrise over the weekend, leaving several passengers banned from future sailings and drawing attention in a popular documentary series.

What started as a relaxing day on deck quickly turned chaotic on Saturday, June 7, when a fight erupted among guests, resulting in chairs being thrown and fists flying.

The incident took place around 5:30 p.m. as the ship was on a 4-day roundtrip cruise from Miami to The Bahamas. Having just finished a visit to Carnival’s private destination, Half Moon Cay, the Carnival Sunrise was on its way to Nassau when the altercation broke out on the Lido Deck near the Pizzeria.

The incident, captured on video and shared widely on social media, showed several passengers throwing chairs while others screamed and attempted to flee the scene. The ship’s security quickly intervened, breaking up the confrontation.

As a result of the violent outburst, Carnival Cruise Line reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy for disruptive behavior, confirming that those involved in the fight would be permanently banned from sailing with the cruise line.

Carnival’s Code of Conduct, which all passengers must adhere to, explicitly states that any actions disturbing the safety, comfort, or enjoyment of others could lead to disembarkation at the passenger’s expense, along with a potential lifetime ban from the brand.

“I’m staying a couple of doors away from him. The man is locked up in his room with security outside 24/7,” shared one guest on social media, posting about a passenger who was reportedly detained after the altercation.

While no official statement has confirmed whether the involved passengers were disembarked in Nassau or allowed to stay on board until the cruise ended in Miami, it is clear that their vacation came to an abrupt end.

Though the cause of the brawl remains unclear, such incidents are increasingly becoming a source of concern for the cruise line industry, with Carnival drawing attention for its response to unruly behavior.

The company recently updated its guidelines to ensure guests understand the consequences of such actions. In addition, the cruise line altered its Cheers! Drink Package to limit guests to 15 drinks per day, a move designed to mitigate alcohol-induced confrontations.

This latest outburst follows a series of high-profile incidents aboard Carnival vessels, including a brawl captured at the buffet on Carnival Paradise in 2024 and a separate altercation during disembarkation at the Galveston cruise terminal earlier this year.

As Carnival continues to address its reputation for onboard disturbances, this event has also made waves in the popular cruise documentary series that revisits shocking incidents at sea.

The Carnival Sunrise incident highlights the need for vigilance and discipline aboard cruise ships, where the actions of a few can impact the entire passenger experience.

Carnival’s swift response to the violence signals the company’s commitment to ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all guests—free from the chaos of such destructive behavior.
