Royal Caribbean Adds Bonus Port of Call to Upcoming Sailing

Royal Caribbean is surprising cruisers with an exciting itinerary update for the Oasis of the Seas, set to sail on May 17, 2025, from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

In a rare move, the cruise line has announced an additional port of call to the 8-night Southern Caribbean sailing.

Guests will now have the opportunity to visit the newly opened Cabo Rojo in the Dominican Republic, adding a fresh stop to their voyage.

Cabo Rojo is making waves in the cruise world, as it just began welcoming ships in early 2024.

Developed through a $126 million investment, this stunning destination features ample shopping, entertainment, a beach area, and even a water park, with capacity for four large cruise ships at once.

It will replace the scheduled sea day on Day 6, giving passengers more time to explore this emerging port.

“We’re so excited to explore this new port with you,” Royal Caribbean wrote in a letter to passengers. The bonus stop, set for May 22, 2025, will fit between the existing calls in Oranjestad, Aruba, and Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Though this means some minor adjustments to the times in Oranjestad and CocoCay, the line assures guests they will still have ample time to enjoy both destinations.

The new itinerary has received a positive reception from cruisers. “I’m thrilled to explore a new port! What a treat,” said one excited guest. Another added, “I’ll be on this very cruise departing FLL with a group of friends. Can’t wait!”

With Cabo Rojo being the Caribbean’s newest addition, this is not the first time Royal Caribbean has altered its schedule to include the port.

Other ships like Adventure of the Seas have also seen their itineraries updated, offering guests the chance to discover this exciting new destination.
