A potentially tragic incident on the Disney Dream cruise ship was swiftly prevented when a courageous father jumped overboard to rescue his young daughter who had fallen from the ship.

The dramatic rescue took place on Sunday, June 29, 2025, as the ship was nearing the end of a 4-night Bahamas cruise.

The emergency began when a “M.O.B. port side!” (man overboard) call echoed across the public address system, signaling to the crew that something was wrong.

Guests and crew members immediately realized that the young girl had fallen from Deck 4, which features a jogging track and open viewing ports but no staterooms. Though the cause of her fall remains unclear, Disney Dream’s safety measures, including solid bulkheads and high railings, were designed to prevent such incidents.

Without hesitation, the girl’s father jumped into the water after her, determined to ensure her safety. The ship’s crew responded within minutes, throwing life preservers into the water and launching a pilot craft to recover the two guests. Despite the challenge of turning a massive cruise ship, Disney Dream’s crew completed the rescue in under 30 minutes.

The girl and her father were quickly brought back aboard the ship with no major injuries reported. Disney Cruise Line confirmed that further investigation would be conducted to understand how the young girl fell overboard and to ensure all safety measures remain in place.

The incident occurred as Disney Dream was on its final day of the cruise, heading back to Fort Lauderdale. Despite the emergency, the ship remained on track, and there were no delays to the scheduled return on Monday morning, June 30.
