Royal Caribbean Welcomes Diana Ross as Godmother of Star of the Seas
Royal Caribbean has announced the legendary Diana Ross as the godmother of its upcoming ship, Star of the Seas. The highly anticipated debut of the cruise ship will take place in August 2025, and Ross will be at the forefront of its christening ceremony.
This traditional maritime event marks the ship’s entry into service, with the godmother tasked with ensuring the safety of the vessel and all those who sail aboard it.

Star of the Seas will set sail from Port Canaveral on Caribbean itineraries, marking the ship’s introduction to the Icon Class lineup.
To celebrate the ship’s grand unveiling, Ross will participate in an unforgettable naming ceremony at the AquaTheater, which sits in the heart of the AquaDome.
The venue, offering panoramic ocean views, promises an atmosphere that aligns with the ship’s transformational design. This special occasion is expected to set the tone for what guests can look forward to on the revolutionary ship.
