55-Year-Old Cruise Passenger Missing After Shore Excursion in St. Maarten

Authorities in St. Maarten are searching for a 55-year-old American cruise passenger who vanished after stepping off a tour bus during a shore excursion last week.

Police on both the Dutch and French sides of the island are urging anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues.

Disappearance During an Island Tour

The missing passenger, Ann Evans, was sailing aboard Holland America Line’s Rotterdam when the ship arrived in St. Maarten on November 20, 2025. According to the Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM), Evans disembarked in Philipsburg around 10:00 a.m. to join an organized island tour.

During the excursion, the bus made a scheduled stop in Marigot, on the French side of the island. Witnesses say Evans stepped off the bus at that point—but did not return when it was time for the group to continue the tour. She also did not make it back to the cruise ship.

When Evans failed to rejoin the group, authorities were notified and an island-wide search was launched.

Coordinated Search Efforts

Police on both sides of St. Maarten—KPSM on the Dutch side and the Gendarmerie on the French side—are working jointly to locate Evans. Officers began searching the Marigot area immediately after the missing-person report was filed and have since expanded their efforts across the island.

Officials have released basic identifying information to help the public recognize her:

Investigators are urging anyone who may have seen Evans in Marigot, Philipsburg, or anywhere else on the island to come forward.

Authorities have also directed a message toward Evans herself, asking that if she sees any public announcements, she should contact law enforcement or her family immediately to confirm she is safe.

Cruise Ship Details

Rotterdam is currently sailing a 21-day roundtrip Southern & Eastern Caribbean itinerary that departed Port Everglades on November 7 and is scheduled to return on November 28, 2025.

Evans was reported missing during the port call in St. Maarten on November 20.
