Princess Unveils Epic 115-Day World Cruise for 2028 With 49 Ports and Up to $3,000 in Credit

Princess Cruises has revealed a new globe-spanning adventure for travelers eager to explore the world by sea. The cruise line has announced its 2028 World Cruise, a 115-day voyage aboard Coral Princess that will visit 49 ports across 24 countries and five continents while sailing roughly 36,000 nautical miles.

The epic sailing is scheduled to depart January 3, 2028, with round-trip embarkation options from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, or Los Angeles, California. Along the way, guests will cross both the Equator and the International Date Line, creating a true circumnavigation-style experience in just under four months.

A Global Journey Across Five Continents

During the 115-night voyage, Coral Princess will carry travelers through some of the world’s most iconic cruising regions. The itinerary includes the Panama Canal, the islands of the South Pacific, Australia and New Zealand, parts of the Indian Ocean, Africa, and several destinations in Europe before returning across the Atlantic.

Ports of call include destinations across Hawaii, Samoa, Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, Mauritius, Réunion Island, Morocco, and Mediterranean and Adriatic highlights like Barcelona, Sicily, and Dubrovnik.

In total, the voyage includes:

  • 49 ports of call
  • 24 countries
  • Five continents
  • Roughly 36,000 nautical miles traveled

Princess designed the itinerary to showcase 39 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, ranging from historic Mediterranean cities to natural wonders like volcanic landscapes in Hawaii.

More Time Ashore With Extended Port Visits

One of the most appealing features of the 2028 World Cruise is Princess’ “More Ashore” program, which gives travelers extra time to explore destinations instead of brief daytime visits.

The itinerary includes:

  • Two overnight stays: Cape Town, South Africa and Auckland, New Zealand
  • 10 late-night departures, allowing guests to experience cities after dark

Late-night calls include major destinations such as:

  • Barcelona, Spain
  • Casablanca, Morocco
  • Honolulu, Hawaii
  • Sydney and Melbourne, Australia

These extended stays allow travelers to enjoy local dining, nightlife, and cultural experiences that are often missed on traditional port stops.

A New Destination: Mossel Bay, South Africa

A standout addition to the itinerary is Mossel Bay, South Africa, which will mark Coral Princess’ maiden call at the historic coastal destination.

Mossel Bay is known for its dramatic shoreline and archaeological significance. Coastal caves in the region contain evidence of modern human behavior dating back more than 160,000 years, making it one of the earliest known sites tied to human culture.

The destination also serves as a gateway to wildlife adventures in South Africa.

New Safari Shore Excursions

To enhance the African portion of the itinerary, Princess is introducing new safari-style shore excursions to renowned game preserves.

Travelers will be able to visit locations such as:

  • Aquila Game Reserve
  • Pumba Private Game Reserve

These excursions offer the chance to see Africa’s famous “Big Five” wildlife — lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, and rhinoceroses — along with rare white lions found in the region.

Sailing Aboard Coral Princess

The voyage will take place aboard Coral Princess, a ship designed for longer and more destination-focused journeys. The vessel carries about 2,000 guests and measures 91,627 gross tons, placing it between the size of mega-ships and small luxury vessels.

Originally launched in 2002, the ship’s size allows it to navigate areas like the Panama Canal while still offering a comfortable onboard experience suited for extended sailings.

Flexible Voyage Segments Available

While the full sailing lasts 115 days, Princess will also offer shorter cruise segments for travelers who can’t commit to the entire journey.

These segments range from 20 to 100 nights, allowing guests to join different portions of the global itinerary depending on their schedule.

Booking Perks for Loyal Guests

Princess is also offering incentives for frequent cruisers. Members of the cruise line’s Captain’s Circle loyalty program may qualify for up to $3,000 in onboard credit per stateroom.

The credit can be used toward experiences such as specialty dining, spa treatments, and shore excursions — including the new safari adventures available during the voyage.

A Cruise Community Already Forming

Interest in the voyage is already building among avid cruisers. A dedicated 2028 World Cruise Facebook group has already launched, bringing together past and future world cruise travelers who are considering or planning to sail on the itinerary.

The community allows guests to connect, share travel plans, and prepare for the months-long journey well ahead of departure.

A Growing Trend in Destination-Focused Cruising

According to Princess Cruises’ Chief Commercial Officer Jim Berra, the goal of the itinerary is to deliver a deeper travel experience.

“Our 2028 World Cruise is an unparalleled voyage designed for travelers to see the world in a meaningful, immersive way — with more overnight stays, more time in port, deeper cultural connections and unforgettable moments at every turn,” Berra said.

With longer port stays, new destinations, and safari adventures added to the mix, Princess’ latest world cruise aims to offer travelers more immersive exploration than ever before.

Bookings for the 2028 World Cruise aboard Coral Princess are now open through Princess Cruises and travel advisors.
