Carnival Cruise Line Confirms Pepsi-to-Coke Switch Timeline

Coca-Cola fans can officially start counting down the days until their favorite sodas return to Carnival Cruise Line ships sailing from North America.

The cruise line now expects to complete its highly anticipated Pepsi-to-Coke switchover by the week after Labor Day, according to Brand Ambassador John Heald.

Carnival first announced the switch back to Coke products in late June, sparking excitement from guests eager for classics like Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Sprite, and Fanta Orange.

At the time, the only timeline given was “later this summer.” While exact ship-by-ship dates are still not set, the updated schedule means most mid-September sailings should have Coca-Cola products onboard.

Different Dates for Different Ships

Heald emphasized that the transition dates will vary. Delivery schedules, each ship’s itinerary, and how quickly remaining Pepsi stock is used up will all play a role. Some vessels could make the change earlier in September, while others may still be serving Pepsi products into the month.

Ships homeported outside North America—such as those sailing from Australia—will follow a separate transition timeline.

What If You Prefer Pepsi?

Once Coke products take over, Pepsi lovers will need to make other arrangements if they want their preferred brand onboard. Carnival’s beverage policy allows guests to bring a limited supply of non-alcoholic drinks, as long as they are packaged in cans or cartons and carried on at embarkation.

Each guest can bring up to 12 sealed, unopened cans (12 ounces or less), and the rule applies to beverages brought back from ports of call as well.

That means a family of four could bring the equivalent of four 12-packs—enough to satisfy even the most dedicated soda drinkers during their cruise.

Why the Date Matters

For many cruisers, soda loyalty is serious business. Those who can’t imagine a week at sea without their preferred brand often plan ahead, even bringing cases from home.

This updated timeline means Coke fans with late September and fall sailings can likely leave the extra baggage behind—while Pepsi fans may want to stock up before boarding.
