Disney’s Largest Cruise Ship With Roller Coaster Arrives in Florida

Disney Cruise Line’s newest and largest ship, the Disney Adventure, made its first-ever appearance in Florida this week with a technical stop at Port Canaveral. The milestone marks a major step in the vessel’s journey toward its inaugural season in Asia later this year.

The 200,000+ gross-ton ship represents a significant leap for Disney Cruise Line, not only in size but in innovation. Originally under construction as the Global Dream before its parent company went bankrupt, Disney acquired the partially completed ship in 2022 and spent the following years transforming it into a fully themed family vessel packed with new-to-brand features.

Although the Disney Adventure is currently in Florida, it won’t be sailing from the U.S. or Caribbean anytime soon. The ship is set to reposition to Singapore ahead of its maiden voyage on March 10, 2026, launching short three- and four-night itineraries that will establish Disney Cruise Line’s first year-round presence in Asia.

Disney says the ship draws from more than a century of storytelling across its most recognizable worlds — including Pixar, Disney Animation, and Marvel. The result is a collection of seven distinct themed neighborhoods designed to immerse guests in fan-favorite characters and worlds:

  • Disney Imagination Garden — The central hub of the ship, featuring 100 years of Disney storytelling
  • Disney Discovery Reef — An open-air space themed to ocean-loving films like The Little Mermaid, Finding Nemo, Lilo & Stitch, and Luca
  • Toy Story Place — A family waterpark inspired by Andy’s room and the Toy Story universe
  • Marvel Landing — The action-packed upper deck zone that houses the ship’s headline attraction
  • Wayfinder Bay — A Moana-inspired pool deck overlooking the ship’s aft
  • San Fransokyo Street — A vibrant mashup of Big Hero 6’s San Fransokyo cityscape featuring dining and entertainment
  • Town Square — A collection of dining venues, coffee shops, and retail spaces

One of the most talked-about features is the record-breaking roller coaster atop the ship — touted as the longest at sea at roughly 820 feet — located within Marvel Landing. The attraction adds a new thrill element to Disney Cruise Line’s portfolio and underscores the company’s intention to appeal to Asian family travelers with high-energy, theme-park-style entertainment onboard.

With construction now complete and the repositioning well underway, Disney describes the Disney Adventure as a cornerstone of its multi-year global expansion strategy. The company has been steadily growing its fleet, adding new markets, and investing in destinations that will allow the brand to introduce its cruise experience to new audiences around the world.

The stop in Port Canaveral brings the ship one step closer to its global debut, with demand already buzzing among fans eager to experience Disney Cruise Line in Asia for the first time.
