Carnival Cruise Line Firm on Cheers! Drink Package Limits
Despite frequent passenger requests, Carnival Cruise Line has announced it will not be increasing the number of alcoholic beverages included in its Cheers! drink package.
Brand Ambassador John Heald confirmed the decision, addressing the comments and critiques regarding the current policy.
The Cheers! drink package, which allows up to 15 alcoholic drinks per 24-hour period for a set daily fee, has been a topic of debate among cruisers. Heald often receives requests to raise this limit, with some guests feeling that the allowance is insufficient.
In response to these requests, Heald stated, “We are not changing anything despite the barrage of requests I have every week.
We will stay at 15 drinks in a 24-hour period (unlimited non-alcoholic drinks) and despite requests like this, I wanted to save you the trouble of writing to me and say again we will not be changing anything.”
Passenger opinions are divided on the matter. Some find the limit challenging to reach, depending on their beverage choices. “I’ve TRIED to hit my 15, closest I got was 12, and I was pretty well done,” shared one guest. Another noted, “I can reach the 15 from time to time but I only drink hard liquor. When I do it’s barely.”
Concerns about responsible drinking and the potential for poor behavior due to excessive alcohol consumption have also been raised.
The Cheers! package includes spirits, cocktails, beer, wine, and champagne by the glass (each priced at $20 USD or less), along with unlimited non-alcoholic beverages, except freshly squeezed juice which costs extra.
The package is priced at $70.74 per person, per day for cruises of 6 nights or longer if purchased before the voyage, and $82.54 per person, per day for shorter trips. If bought onboard, the cost rises to $76.64 for longer cruises and $88.45 for shorter ones.
In addition to the Cheers! package, guests have expressed interest in changes such as allowing only one traveler in a stateroom to purchase the package, rather than requiring all adults in the same room to buy it. Some have also suggested a more limited drink program with a lower daily cap and reduced price.
Moreover, passengers have shown interest in an all-inclusive non-alcoholic drink package that includes milkshakes, specialty coffees, juices, and soda. Currently, Carnival offers the Bottomless Bubbles program, covering only soda and juice.
As Carnival Cruise Line continues to listen to passenger feedback, the Cheers! drink package will maintain its current limit, balancing guest enjoyment with responsible alcohol consumption.
