How I Spent 3-Days Onboard Icon of the Seas (Food, Fun, & Relaxation!)

I did an amazing 7-Day Caribbean cruise onboard Icon of the Seas a couple of weeks ago and it included three days at sea.

The first, the second, and the sixth day were completely at sea.

I was honestly nervous about the sea days, I’ve only ever had two days at sea on previous ships and was worried I’d get cabin fever or worse, bored.

But honestly, what a dumb thought.

Icon of the Seas is MASSIVE and I didn’t have time to explore the entire ship or take advantage of everything onboard, but as you’ll see from my overambitious days, I truly tried!

Here is how I spent three days at sea on Icon of the Seas…

How I Spent Three Days At Sea Onboard Icon of the Seas

First Day At Sea

8:00 AM: Wake Up in a Spacious Balcony Cabin
The morning sun wakes me up in my comfy balcony cabin. Once I went balcony, I could never go back!

It’s so peaceful to sit alone and listen to the waves hitting the ship. It really makes you see how amazing traveling by sea is.

I definitely recommend waking up a little earlier to see the beautiful sunrise at least once. You don’t want to miss it!

9:00 AM: Buffet Breakfast at the Windjammer Marketplace

Windjammer Buffet Day 1

Breakfast at the Windjammer is like traveling the world. You can choose from crispy pastries to spicy dishes from the places we’re going to visit.

There are so many options! I love going to the omelet station where the chefs make omelets just the way you like them.

Here’s a tip: the back of the marketplace has the best views of the sea and it’s not as crowded!

Don’t forget to try the international corner for a special daily feature from various countries. It’s a culinary surprise each morning!

10:30 AM: Explore the Thrill Island Adventure Park

Thrill Island Adventure Park is like a dream playground for any age! I went down the tallest slide on the sea, and my heart beat as fast as the splash when I hit the water.

The rope course makes you move fast and gives you a fun workout while you look at the sea. Make sure to try the zip-line; it’s the quickest way to see the whole ship from above!

12:00 PM: Pool Time at the Main Lagoon
The Main Lagoon is a perfect place to relax. It has big pools, bars you can swim up to, and floaty loungers. You can stay here for hours just enjoying the sun.

Here’s a tip: try the mango mojito at the bar—it’s really refreshing. For the best relaxing spot, pick a lounger a bit away from the center to stay out of the splashy areas.

Secret spot: There’s a hidden whirlpool tucked away on the upper deck with less foot traffic and a stunning view.

2:00 PM: Lunch at Surfside Eatery

Lunch at Surfside Eatery feels like you’re at the beach, with its cool beach-themed decorations and food that fits right in. I chose the grilled mahi-mahi tacos—they’re fresh and come with a tangy slaw that’s really tasty.

It’s just the right kind of light meal to keep you going for the rest of the day without feeling too full.

.Must-try: Besides the tacos, the coconut shrimp with spicy mango sauce is a crowd favorite.

4:00 PM: Back to the Pool with a Cocktail from the Poolside Bar
After exploring the ship, I head back to the pool to unwind with a refreshing cocktail from the nearby poolside bar. I choose a tropical drink, the perfect complement to the sunny deck and sparkling water.

Relaxing by the pool with a cold drink in hand, I bask in the warmth of the sun and the lively atmosphere around me. It’s the ideal way to enjoy the afternoon, feeling the gentle ocean breeze and sipping on something sweet.

7:00 PM: Dinner at Hooked Seafood

Hooked Seafood

Dinner at Hooked Seafood is like a treat for all your senses. The lobster bisque is creamy and seasoned just right, and the seared scallops are so soft they melt in your mouth.

Since it’s a popular place, making a reservation for dinner during sunset is a great idea. You’ll get to enjoy a beautiful view with your delicious meal.

11:00 PM: Nightcap at the Overlook Bar
Finishing the day at the Overlook Bar was perfect. The bar has wide views and you can see the stars shining brightly in the sky. I had a drink called the ‘Starry Night’, which is a tasty mix of dark rum and star anise.

Sitting there under the stars, it’s easy to see why being on the Icon of the Seas feels more special than just a regular vacation.

Second Day At Sea

8:00 AM: Morning Coffee at Café Promenade
I start my day at Café Promenade, breathing in the smell of fresh coffee. I enjoy a latte and a warm, buttery croissant.

This place is great for watching people and planning what to do next. The café also has special coffees and teas that you can change up to make just right for you—it’s a cool spot for anyone who loves coffee.

9:30 AM: Breakfast at the Solarium Bistro
For a quiet breakfast, I go to the Solarium Bistro. They serve healthy, light food here. You have to try the avocado toast with poached eggs, and at the smoothie bar, you can mix your own fruits and veggies into a drink.

The place is calm, with lots of plants and water around, making it feel peaceful.

11:00 AM: Spa Session at the Vitality Spa
A relaxing day isn’t complete without stopping at the Vitality Spa. I get a deep tissue massage to relax my muscles and a facial that makes my skin shine.

When you book a spa treatment, you also get to use the thermal suite, where I relax some more in the steam room and sauna.

1:00 PM: Lunch at Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar

Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar

Lunch at Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen is full of tasty flavors, where old Italian recipes get a new twist. I choose a wood-fired pizza that’s crispy and has just the right amount of char, along with a glass of Chianti that the wine expert suggests.

The place feels lively but cozy, making it perfect for both couples and groups to enjoy.

3:00 PM: Relaxation at the Adult-Only Retreat
After lunch, I head to the adult-only retreat, a special spot just for quiet and relaxation. It has fancy cabanas and a private pool, making it the perfect place to read a good book or just enjoy the sun.

They also make some of the best piña coladas here.

5:00 PM: Afternoon Tea at the Wonderland Imaginative Cuisine
Later in the afternoon, I went to Wonderland Imaginative Cuisine for a fun tea time.

They serve tea snacks like matcha scones and small fancy sandwiches, each one looking like a little piece of art. It’s not just a treat to eat but also to look at, making tea time extra special.

7:00 PM: Dinner at 150 Central Park

Chops Grille

Dinner at 150 Central Park should definitely be on your list of must-dos! They use fresh ingredients that come straight from the farm to the ship.

The six-course tasting menu takes you on a food journey, where each dish shares a story about where its ingredients come from and the wonderful flavors they bring.

The quiet, elegant atmosphere makes dinner feel very special and cozy.

Dining tip: Ask for a table by the window. Watching the sunset while you eat is like seeing a beautiful painting come to life!

9:30 PM: Desserts and Jazz at the Schooner Bar
To finish the night, I go to the Schooner Bar for some live jazz music and yummy desserts.

The chocolate lava cake is everyone’s favorite, and the soft piano music playing in the background helps everyone relax and enjoy the evening.

11:00 PM: Stargazing on the Observation Deck
Before I go back to my room, I stop by the observation deck. I wrap up in a warm blanket and get a hot chocolate from the café.

I look up at the stars, thinking about the peaceful and wonderful day I had on the “Icon of the Seas.”

Last Day At Sea (Day 6 Of My Cruise)

9:00 AM: Buffet Breakfast at the Windjammer Marketplace

On my last cruise day, I go back to the Windjammer Marketplace for breakfast. I just have to have the smoked salmon on a toasted bagel again—it’s been my favorite every morning.

Each bite is so good, mixing all the flavors I’ve loved throughout the trip. I grab a plate full of my favorites, find a seat where I can see the horizon, and enjoy my meal while thinking back on all the fun days at sea.

11:00 AM: Lounge by the AquaDome
After a relaxing breakfast, I head to the AquaDome. It’s like a peaceful indoor garden with a pool, surrounded by green plants and big windows that show off the sea.

I pick a comfortable lounge chair and settle down with a good book, taking quick dips in the pool now and then to cool off.

1:00 PM: Tapas and Sangria at El Loco Fresh
By lunchtime, I’m ready for something light, so I go to El Loco Fresh. The place is full of life and perfect for enjoying tapas and a pitcher of sangria.

I try different small dishes like patatas bravas, shrimp ceviche, and garlic mushrooms. Each one is a burst of taste that’s just wonderful.

3:00 PM: Siesta in a Hammock on the Sun Deck
After a tasty lunch, it’s time for a siesta, and a hammock on the sun deck is the perfect spot. The hammock sways gently, and the soft sea breeze is just like a lullaby.

I find a quiet place, wrap myself in a light blanket, and fall asleep to the soothing sounds of the ocean.

5:00 PM: Coffee and Pastries at La Patisserie

Waking up from my nap, I head to La Patisserie for a late afternoon boost. The coffee is strong and smells wonderful, and the pastries are simply irresistible.

I treat myself to a chocolate éclair and a cappuccino, enjoying the calm atmosphere of the café and the beautiful view of the ocean.

7:00 PM: Dinner at Coastal Kitchen
For dinner, I head to Coastal Kitchen, known for its vibrant Mediterranean cuisine with a Californian twist. The restaurant’s calm atmosphere is just right for a relaxing evening meal.

I begin with the sea bass ceviche, then savor a perfectly grilled lamb chop paired with a glass of rosé. As I dine, I watch the sunset over the ocean, turning the sky into a canvas of beautiful colors.

9:00 PM: Cocktails at Vintages
After dinner, I visit Vintages, a cozy wine bar known for its extensive selection. Tonight, I try a craft cocktail from their specialty menu.

The mixologist recommended the ‘Ocean Breeze,’ a refreshing mix of vodka, blue curaçao, and lemonade—just what I need to wind down the evening.

11:00 PM: Stargazing and Dessert on the Observation Deck
To finish the day, I pick up a glass of wine and head to the observation deck. With a cozy blanket and drink in hand, I find a quiet spot under the stars.

It’s the perfect peaceful setting to reflect on a day filled with the finest food and relaxation that Icon of the Seas has to offer.

Final Thoughts…

The Icon of the Seas is an amazing ship with so much to do! You don’t have to fill your schedule to the brim like I did to have a great time.

Whether you want to relax by the pool, try yummy food, or just read a book, there’s something for everyone. I learned that even on a big ship, you can find quiet places to enjoy the sea.

Next time, I might take it even slower to soak in all the beautiful moments.

Remember, your cruise can be whatever you want it to be—filled with adventure or just peaceful and relaxing. The Icon of the Seas has it all!
