Pier Runner Flips Off Entire Cruise Ship After Showing Up 20 Minutes Late in Mexico

A Carnival cruise guest is making headlines this week after showing zero remorse while returning late to her ship in Ensenada, Mexico—going so far as to flip off fellow passengers as she casually strolled back onboard.

The incident, captured on video by guests watching from their balconies and upper decks, quickly spread online and sparked a heated debate about pier-runner etiquette.

20 Minutes Late… and Proud of It

According to passengers onboard, the woman arrived roughly 20 minutes past the scheduled all-aboard time during a five-day sailing that returned to Long Beach. Most pier runners are already in a full sprint when they realize they’re cutting it close—but this guest appeared unbothered, slowly making her way to the gangway while raising both middle fingers toward the crowd.

The reaction was immediate. Guests booed from the ship, stunned that someone so delayed would act defiantly rather than apologetically. One passenger who posted the now-viral clip on Reddit wrote:

“This lady was the last to board in Ensenada and spent even more time flipping everyone off… This last one was just trashy. At least we were entertained.”

Other Late Passengers Were Forgiven — Because They Apologized

The video’s uploader and other witnesses noted that two other passengers had also arrived late, but their reactions couldn’t have been more different. One hurried onboard shouting “I’m so sorry!” and was met with applause. Another proudly carried a stuffed pink novelty item and was embraced by the crowd with laughs and cheers.

“It was a group of four,” one commenter explained. “The first two ran, so we started cheering. These two—her man isn’t in this video—were flipping us off and getting booed.”

Social Media Agrees: She Should Have Been Left Behind

Once the clip hit Reddit, the criticism poured in.

Many users argued the woman should have been denied boarding entirely, calling her behavior rude, entitled, and disrespectful to the hundreds of passengers who boarded on time.

Others noted that Ensenada is one of the more lenient ports—and that if this happened on a sailing from Miami, she would’ve likely been left behind.

Still, a few commenters shrugged the moment off as part of the Carnival experience, joking that late and rowdy behavior comes with the territory on a party-style cruise.

Pier Running: The Ultimate Cruise Faux Pas

Running late back to the ship is one of the biggest unspoken sins in cruising. Not only does it delay departures, but it can also create safety concerns and logistical headaches for the crew.

And while pier runners often become viral sensations, most are embarrassed, frantic, or at the very least apologetic. This Ensenada passenger, however, flipped that script entirely—making her the latest example of how not to end a port day.

Whether the guest faces any consequences remains unclear, but one thing is certain: cruisers everywhere have opinions, and they aren’t shy about sharing them.
