Princess Cruises Announces “Historic America Cruisetour” Celebrating U.S. History
In a nod to the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States, Princess Cruises has introduced an innovative travel experience that combines a detailed exploration of America’s foundational history with the luxury of a cruise.
The “Historic America Cruisetour,” set to launch in 2025, offers a unique blend of educational tours and scenic cruising through Canada and New England, starting from New York City.
This 14-night adventure starts with a comprehensive seven-night land tour, taking participants through key historical sites in Washington, D.C., Williamsburg, Virginia, and Pennsylvania’s Gettysburg and Philadelphia. According to Terry Thornton, Princess Cruises’ Chief Commercial Officer, “This tour is designed to make traveling to historic America both easy and memorable, providing our guests with a deep dive into the events and figures that shaped this nation.”
The land portion of the tour begins in Washington, D.C., where guests will enjoy an evening illumination tour of iconic landmarks, including the Lincoln and Vietnam War Memorials.
The journey continues through Colonial Williamsburg, the site of the first permanent English settlement in North America, and Philadelphia, where travelers will visit Independence Hall and other pivotal sites of American democracy.
Following the land tour, guests will embark on the Enchanted Princess for a seven-day cruise along the picturesque coastlines of New England and Canada.
The cruise includes stops in historic ports such as Newport, Rhode Island, Boston, Massachusetts, and Portland, Maine, with additional calls in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
The Enchanted Princess, which was launched in 2021 post-pandemic, is a 141,000-gross-ton ship capable of accommodating 3,660 passengers.
It typically operates in the Caribbean but relocates to New York City from August through October specifically for these itineraries.
The 2025 cruisetour marks the first offering of this comprehensive vacation package, promising an unforgettable journey through America’s rich history, just in time for its quarter-millennial celebrations.
