World’s First Dog-Friendly Cruise: Tails of the Seas Sets Sail in November 2025
In a groundbreaking announcement, Margaritaville at Sea has revealed the official name of its first-ever dog-friendly cruise: Tails of the Seas. The name, chosen through a spirited naming contest, marks a milestone in the cruise industry, catering to travelers who want to bring their furry friends along for the adventure.
Set to sail in November 2025 aboard the Margaritaville Islander, this six-night voyage promises to be a tail-wagging experience for both dogs and their owners.
A Name with a Prize
The winning name, submitted by Shawn Loomis, was selected from a sea of creative entries. As a reward, Loomis has received a complimentary human-only cruise for two, courtesy of Margaritaville at Sea.
Steve Matzke, Cruise Tails Captain, expressed his gratitude to the community: “It was amazing to see such enthusiastic participation. We’re excited to offer more contests and opportunities for our community to set sail with us.”
Exclusive Spots for Canine Cruisers
With space for just 250 dogs, the cruise is already generating massive interest. Cabins for the inaugural voyage are filling up quickly, and a second round of applications is now open for eager pet owners. Eligible dogs must weigh under 20 pounds, stand no taller than 18 inches, and be fully vaccinated with valid health certificates.
To secure a spot, a refundable deposit of $500 per passenger and $250 per dog is required.
Dog-Friendly Destinations
The Tails of the Seas itinerary includes stops at Key West, Florida, as well as Progreso and Cozumel, Mexico. Careful planning ensures each port is welcoming to canine passengers. Owners, however, must meet all travel requirements for their pets to disembark at these destinations.
The cruise will depart from Port Tampa Bay on November 18, 2025, with pre-boarding events planned to enhance the excitement.
Beyond the Cruise
The buzz surrounding this innovative voyage has already caught the attention of pet influencers, celebrities, and dog-centric brands. Extensive marketing and sponsorship opportunities are underway, making this a landmark event in the pet travel industry.
While no additional Tails of the Seas sailings have been confirmed, Margaritaville at Sea hints at the possibility of a second cruise in spring 2026, depending on the success of the inaugural voyage.
“This is the first pet cruise ever because until now, everyone thought it was impossible,” reads the cruise’s FAQ. With careful planning and an abundance of caution, Tails of the Seas is poised to redefine travel for dog lovers.
Stay tuned to see if this paw-some idea takes off, and who knows—your next vacation might just include your best furry friend.
