Disney Destiny’s New Villain-Themed Attractions: Everything You Need to Know!
During Disney Cruise Line’s three-day unveiling event for the new Disney Destiny, the second day highlighted the ship’s unique entertainment offerings, specifically those inspired by iconic Disney villains.
This 4,000-passenger ship, themed around Heroes and Villains, promises to bring enchantment and excitement with its villain-themed venues and interactive experiences.
Villain-Themed Venues
Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager at Disney Cruise Line, emphasized the role of villains in storytelling, stating, “The Disney Destiny is all about celebrating the bold, charismatic, and driven characters at the heart of our favorite stories. And who are our beloved heroes without the antagonists who challenge them to prevail?”
Among the new attractions is De Vil’s Piano Lounge, a lavish setting inspired by Disney’s live-action “Cruella de Vil” and the animated classic “One Hundred and One Dalmatians.”
The lounge features a red, black, and white color scheme with a Hollywood Regency design. Live music will be performed on De Vil’s spotted piano, and the lounge, which is adult-exclusive, will open to the ship’s Grand Hall, offering a selection of martinis, cocktails, and wines.
Adjacent to De Vil’s Piano Lounge, the Cask and Cannon pub immerses guests in the world of “Pirates of the Caribbean,” decorated with “treasures” and offering a variety of rums and custom brews.
Interactive Experiences
The Disney Destiny will also feature a new storyline in AquaMouse, the cruise line’s signature 760-foot-long water ride.
This attraction on the upper deck will offer storytelling animation, a new original soundtrack exclusive to Disney Cruise Line, and appearances by villains from Disney animations, such as the Queen of Hearts from “Alice in Wonderland” and Chernabog from “Fantasia.”
“We are having a blast creating spaces and entertainment experiences that pay tribute to the villains, anti-heroes, and mischief-makers who have captivated Disney film and theme park audiences for generations,” said Siskie.
Character-Driven Experiences
Scheduled to debut in December 2025, Disney Destiny, at 144,000 gross tons, draws inspiration from Disney, Pixar, and Marvel characters across the ship, from staterooms to dining rooms to water parks to entertainment.
The ship, which will homeport in Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, will offer a variety of Caribbean sailings and trips to Disney’s private destinations.
One of the standout features is a unique trivia event and dance party themed around Oogie Boogie from “A Nightmare Before Christmas.”
Additionally, character interactions with villains like Maleficent from “Sleeping Beauty” and Captain Hook from “Peter Pan,” as well as immersive shows and meet-and-greets, will be available.
Additional Features
Although not unique to Disney Destiny, the ship will also include a Haunted Mansion Parlor, first debuting on the Disney Treasure in December 2024.
This lounge, inspired by the classic theme park attractions at Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom, adds a nautical twist, where guests can enjoy craft cocktails amid illusions and ghostly encounters.
Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny are part of Disney Cruise Line’s expansion of Triton Class vessels, constructed at Germany’s Meyer Werft Shipyard.
The fleet, which also includes Disney Wish, debuting in 2022, and Disney Adventure, set for 2025, is powered by liquefied natural gas, with each ship offering its own unique theme.
