Margaritaville’s Newest Gem: The Sea Islander Arrives in Florida
The Margaritaville at Sea Islander, a newly renovated cruise ship, has made its much-anticipated arrival in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Scheduled to dock at its permanent home in Port Tampa Bay soon, this ship marks a significant expansion for the Margaritaville cruise line.
Departing from the Harland & Wolff shipyard in Belfast, Northern Ireland, on May 19, the Margaritaville at Sea Islander voyaged across the Atlantic without passengers, undergoing final touch-ups to perfect its tropical ambiance.
The ship’s arrival on June 2 was met with excitement, heralding a promising future for its crew and future guests.
The Spirit-class vessel, boasting a gross tonnage of 85,619, is set to more than double the passenger capacity of its fleetmate, the Margaritaville at Sea Paradise.
With accommodations for 2,114 guests at double occupancy and up to 2,680 when fully booked, it significantly surpasses the Paradise’s capacity.
Nearly 900 international crew members will also join the ship in Fort Lauderdale, prepping for the upcoming voyages and learning every inch of the new layout.
Savannah Buffett, daughter of the iconic Jimmy Buffett, is appointed the ship’s godmother. She expressed her enthusiasm for her role, wishing the ship smooth sailing and adventures in tranquil waters.
On June 14, the Margaritaville at Sea Islander will embark on its maiden voyage from Port Tampa Bay, introducing new 4- and 5-night itineraries to the Western Caribbean, including stops in Cozumel, Key West, and Progreso.
Plans for 2025 include extending these voyages to 6 and 7 nights, incorporating additional ports such as Belize, Jamaica, and Grand Cayman.
Passengers aboard the Margaritaville at Sea Islander will experience a unique tropical theme, evident from the vibrant hull artwork to the Margaritaville-inspired décor sprinkled throughout the ship’s public spaces and cabins.
Onboard amenities include the Port of Indecision Buffet, Fins Up Fitness Center, 5 O’Clock Somewhere Pool, and the Flip Flop Atrium, promising a blend of relaxation and entertainment.
The arrival of the Margaritaville at Sea Islander in Florida not only enhances the state’s tourism landscape but also sets a new standard for leisure cruises in the region, inviting passengers to indulge in the laid-back, seafaring lifestyle that Jimmy Buffett’s songs have celebrated for decades.
