MSC Cruises Announces Two More World-Class Ships for Its Growing Fleet
MSC Cruises is significantly expanding its fleet with the addition of two more World Class ships, marking a new chapter in its journey toward becoming a major player in the global cruise market.
On May 19, 2025, MSC Cruises unveiled its exciting plans for two new ships to be built by French shipbuilder Chantiers de l’Atlantique.
These ships, referred to as World Class V and World Class VI, are expected to join the fleet in 2029 and 2030, respectively, bringing the total number of ships in MSC’s World Class series to six.
A Bold Step in Innovation and Sustainability
The new order reinforces MSC’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, aligning with the cruise line’s long-term industrial plan.
Pierfrancesco Vago, executive chairman of MSC Cruises, stated, “This milestone underlines our commitment to build some of the highest performing ships in the world, creating a legacy of excellence and innovation in collaboration with Chantiers de l’Atlantique, our long-term partners for more than 20 years.”
MSC’s World Class vessels are setting the bar for the future of cruising with state-of-the-art technology designed to minimize environmental impact.
These ships are powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and feature advanced waste management systems, shore power connectivity, and fuel-efficient hull designs.
Expanding the World Class Fleet
The announcement follows the successful debut of MSC World America, which sailed into PortMiami in April 2025. This impressive vessel is one of the largest cruise ships in the world, spanning 22 passenger decks and accommodating over 6,700 guests.
It also shares similarities with Royal Caribbean’s Oasis and Icon Class ships, signifying MSC’s ambition to compete with the industry’s giants.
The upcoming ships will continue to offer a wide variety of dining, entertainment, and activity options, designed for all ages.
Each ship in the World Class series is set to feature over 30 food and beverage destinations and seven distinct districts, providing guests with everything from family-friendly activities to sophisticated relaxation areas.
Expanding into New Markets
The World Class expansion is also a step toward MSC’s broader market reach. MSC World Asia, which will bring an Asian flair to the brand, is set to debut in December 2026, while MSC World Atlantic will start offering Caribbean cruises from Port Canaveral in February 2027.
These new ships will further cement MSC Cruises’ position as a leading cruise line offering both luxury and innovation.
